Walking started up in August and September, just short of the one-year mark. Here are the initial assisted steps,
and the cruising stage, strongly resembling an unsure skater at the roller rink hanging on to the side rails.

As Summer turned to Fall, it was time to eke out the last of the easy outdoor activities, including splashing
around at Buhr Park pool and climbing on the playgrounds in Northwood V.

Then, Mia turned one year old on October 24, 2003. There was a cupcake, some messy frosting and annoying
animatronic gifts from "friends." Elmo knows what it's all about. Damn that Elmo.

This being Ann Arbor, it got cold. 2003-2004 has been a nasty Winter so far, with lots of snow and very
low temperatures. We get outside when we can.
